If your brokerage account, or your parents', still holds a JKN bond, the number may not have moved since 2023, and many people have stopped looking. No interest has come in, no principal has come back, and the company's news has turned from a rescue plan into a bankruptcy case. But there is now one date every bondholder needs to remember: 1 December 2026. Miss it without filing, and the right to get even part of the money back may go too.

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued the warning on 2 November 2026, Thansettakij and MGR Online reported. It asked holders of all seven bond series of JKN Global Group Public Company Limited to file repayment claims with the official receiver at the Legal Execution Department by that day. The seven series are JKN239A, JKN246A, JKN243A, JKN24OA, JKN24NA, JKN252A and JKN255A.

From a bond it could not fully repay to absolute receivership

The trouble became clear in September 2023, when JKN said it could not fully repay a 600 million baht bond due on 1 September, according to a Thansettakij report at the time. Late that year the company applied for business rehabilitation, which means asking the court to freeze debts while a new repayment plan is drawn up. But the rehabilitation did not succeed, and JKN is no longer under a rehabilitation plan, according to Brand Buffet. What was left was a bankruptcy case, brought by five creditors at the Central Bankruptcy Court.

On 25 August 2026, the court placed JKN under absolute receivership. The term sounds complicated, but the meaning is simple. From that day, the company can no longer run its own business or assets. The power lies with the official receiver, an officer of the Legal Execution Department, whose job is to gather what JKN has left and share it among creditors in proportion. The order was published in the Royal Gazette on 1 October 2026, and the law gives creditors two months from that date to file claims, so the deadline falls on 1 December.

Filing a claim tells the receiver how much JKN owes you

Bondholders are creditors of the company, because a bond is a contract in which the company borrows money from you and promises to pay interest and return the principal on set dates. When the company goes into bankruptcy, that contract does not disappear. It turns into a right to a share of the assets that remain. Filing a claim puts your name on the list of creditors, with the amount owed and the evidence. If your name is not on that list, the receiver has no record of you when the money is shared out.

However, filing does not mean you will get all your money back. The SEC stressed that whether a claim is paid, and how much, depends on the evidence proving the debt and on the discretion of the official receiver or the Central Bankruptcy Court. What is actually paid out also depends on how much JKN has left and how many other creditors there are. But if you do not file at all, there is almost no chance of getting that share.

Check your series, then ask the bondholder representative first

Each bond series has a bondholder representative, a securities firm appointed to look after the interests of holders of that series. Asia Plus Securities looks after JKN239A and JKN246A, and Dao (Thailand) Securities looks after JKN243A, JKN24OA, JKN24NA, JKN252A and JKN255A. The first step is to check which series is in your account, then call that series' representative and ask what documents to prepare. This is a bankruptcy case, separate from the earlier rehabilitation case, so anyone who filed papers in the rehabilitation case in 2024 should ask clearly how to file again in this one.

The main document for a bond debt is the bond certificate, or documents relating to the bond, according to filing guidance from the Legal Execution Department. If someone else files for you, you need a power of attorney with a duty stamp, a copy of your ID card and a copy of theirs. Debts over 50,000 baht that are not based on a court judgment carry a filing fee of 200 baht.

The easiest route is the Legal Execution Department's electronic system, reached from led.go.th, attaching the evidence it asks for. The other route is to take the documents in person to the pleadings section on the second floor of the Legal Execution Department building on Bang Khun Non Road, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok, or to a provincial Legal Execution Office near you. Questions about this case can go to the official receiver on 02-881-5082 or 02-887-5082, or to Bankruptcy Execution Division 2 on 02-881-4957, 02-881-4899 and 02-881-4999.

There are less than four weeks left before Tuesday, 1 December 2026. This week, check your brokerage account for any JKN bond series, call that series' bondholder representative, gather the documents, and file before the final week. If your parents or older relatives once bought JKN bonds, check for them too, because many may not have seen this notice.
